Low-cost carrier (LCC) MYAirline has teased three different flight destinations via its official Facebook page. The new airline is slated to commence operations in the fourth quarter of this year, expectedly in December.

Through some not-too-subtle hints, the company has confirmed that its first destinations will include Langkawi, as well as Kota Kinabalu and Kuching in East Malaysia. With only three fully operational Airbus A320-200s in its service, it makes sense that the new LCC could only travel to three locations at launch. That being said, expect the airline’s flight frequencies to be far less when compared to its competitors, at least for now.

According to New Straits Times, MYAirline CEO Rayner Teo says a fourth aircraft of the same model in its fleet is currently undergoing a repaint to sport the company’s branding. Whether it will add another destination to its list once the plane is ready for operations remains to be seen. Additionally, Teo adds that the airline is aiming to increase its fleet to 50 planes in the next five years.

MyAirline revealed via the same Facebook post that ticket sales for all three destinations will be opening this month, though it has yet to provide the exact date. For the time being, the new LCC is also encouraging potential customers to sign up through its official website for the latest updates and vouchers.

To recap our previous report, MYAirline has recently secured its full air service licence (ASL) from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM), with an allowed operating period of 12 months starting from 15 November 2022 until 14 November 2023. It had also received its air operator’s certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) last month.

Seeing that it will rival other budget airlines such as AirAsia and Firefly, the new LCC is expected to offer strong competition in both service and pricing. Whether or not this will be the case, we’ll only find out once MYAirline’s business fully takes off in the coming weeks.
