Alleged NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Packaging Assets Leak; Launching 5 January

More or less confirms our suspicion of a CES 2023 unveiling.

Earlier yesterday, we reported on a rumour that NVIDIA’s “unlaunched” GeForce RTX 4080 12GB would be making a comeback as the RTX 4070 Ti, a name that many speculated to be the original name of the card. It now appears that the speculation may actually hold some water with this recent packaging design leak.

The design template of the RTX 4070 Ti was put online by MEGAsizeGPU and essentially shows what NVIDIA expects AIB partners to adhere to, the greyed-out space around it reserved for them to put in their own artwork and branding, to better sell their custom-cooled GPUs.

In addition, the most recent rumour is now suggesting that NVIDIA is definitely planning on launching the RTX 4070 Ti in January and more specifically, on 5 January. That date coincides with the start of CES 2023, which also kicks off on the same date. Simply put, it means that we’ll clearly be hearing more about the card during the annual event.

There is slightly more detail to the launch date of the RTX 4070 Ti. Apparently, NVIDIA plans on doing an unveil of the product on 3 January, followed by all reviews of the product on 4 January. By all accounts, that is typical of the GPU brand’s SOP and from this perspective, it sounds like the review is targeting AIB partner cards, as well as its own Founders Edition models.

The original RTX 4080 12GB will become RTX 4070 Ti instead.

Regarding the internal specifications of the RTX 4070 Ti: because the card is essentially the RTX 4080 12GB, it is likely to remain unchanged for the most part. That means the same AD104 GPU, 7680 CUDA cores, 12GB GDDR6X graphics memory and the same 192-bit memory bus.

Honestly speaking, if there’s one thing that NVIDIA may wish to change or revise about the RTX 4070 Ti, it would be the card’s starting SRP of US$899 or RM4730, given that AMD’s own flagship cards, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and XT, are set to launch on 13 December at the same starting price. And those cards are expected to go up against the RTX 4080.
