While they are already available for pre-order since last month and have gone on a preview tour at selected Huawei Experience Store locations, it is only today that the Huawei Mate50 and Mate50 Pro have truly made their debut in Malaysia.

In case you missed our previous report, the Mate50 Series was originally launched in China back in September. The Pro model comes standard with a 6.74-inch OLED display with a native resolution of 2616 x 1212 and 120Hz refresh rate.

The Orange Vegan Leather edition of the Mate50 Pro carries something extra in the form of Kunlun Glass that help protect the phone’s display. Huawei is quite confident of the glass’ capability, as you can see in this demonstration that we captured last month:

For the Black and Silver options, Huawei did not reveal the type of protective glass layer that it used for them though. This also applies to the standard Mate50 model as well, which features a 6.7-inch OLED display alongside a 2700 x 1224 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.

Regardless of the Pro or non-Pro models, both Mate50 Series devices are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor alongside 8GB of RAM. They also carry 50MP Ultra Aperture main camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera on their back although the Pro’s main camera does feature an optical image stabilization system.

At the same time, the Pro model also features a 64MP telephoto camera while its standard counterpart has a 12MP telephoto camera instead. When it comes to selfies, both devices rely on a 13MP ultra-wide camera although only the Pro version has an additional 3D depth camera to boost its bokeh capabilities.

These IP68-certified devices also support Huawei SuperCharge 66W technology although they do have different battery capacities though. Specifically, the Mate50 Pro is equipped with a 4,700mAh battery as opposed to the non-Pro version which has a 4,460mAh battery.

With 256GB internal storage, the standard Mate50 goes for RM3,699 in Malaysia while the Mate50 Pro is priced at RM4,499. On the other hand, the Orange Vegan Leather which also offers a much larger 512GB storage can be obtained for RM5,299.

Pre-order customers for all three Mate50 Series options will be provided with a free Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro alongside a 3-month screen warranty. One can place pre-orders from today onwards until 11 November through Huawei Malaysia’s official website as well as its official store on Shopee and Lazada.
