The Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF) has announced what it dubs the official national league, called Liga eMAS. It will have two seasons yearly, with the first season starting August and going all the way until November.

Bernama quotes MESF president Ananth S Nathan as saying that the Liga eMAS is an initiative to “enhance esports in the country”. He also added that it would “create an esports ecosystem capable of unearthing new talent” that will continue to represent the country in the future.

The Liga eMAS having two seasons yearly is meant to encourage esports athletes, be they individuals or teams, to train consistently. The first season will also decide if participants fall under the Pro-League or Division One for the next season.

For the first season of Liga eMAS, four games are being featured, with two of them being for the mobile platform and the other two are for PC. The titles in question are Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, Valorant and FIFA Online 4. For now, it’s unclear if more games will be added. From this initial list though, while there’s a broad enough variety of genres, a staple of competitive gaming, fighting games, are not represented at all. Ditto console titles, though it could be argued that many console esports titles have PC equivalents as well.

As mentioned, the first season of the Liga eMAS starts this month. Registrations for those interested are also open for 30 days starting today. If you think you or your team have what it takes to be the best at any of the four games listed above, you can sign up for the league by hitting the link below. As the sign up page indicates, there is no joining fee or subscriptions involved in the process.
