The long-haul arm of Capital A (formerly known as AirAsia Group), AirAsia X (AAX) recently announced that it will resume commercial service to Sydney starting from 14 February. The announcement came barely a month after the company was sanctioned by the court to implement its debt restructuring plan.

For starters, AAX said that the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney will take place every Monday at 7:25 PM. On another hand, the return flight to Kuala Lumpur will depart Sydney the following day at 8:30 AM.

This particular schedule covers the period from 14 February to 22 March while AAX will also announce another set of schedules for the autumn/winter session later this month. However, the airline noted that the flights to Sydney are currently being prioritised for customers that are using their Credit Accounts to book the journey.

Despite that, AAX did list the fares for them though which starts from RM1,399 for an Economy flight from KL to Sydney which the airline said includes check-in baggage as well as one meal and drink. For an Economy-class journey from Sydney to KL, the fare starts at AUD399 (~RM1,188) instead.

As you may be able to guess, you can book the flight for less than RM1,399 if you forego the check-in baggage and meal. Captured on AirAsia’s website at 12:15 AM today.

Meanwhile, the CEO of AAX, Benyamin Ismail has also said in the announcement that the airline will be honouring all outstanding bookings and Credit Accounts for other markets soon. However, no timeline or specific destination was mentioned in the announcement although we are quite sure that there are many customers who would like to sort out their transaction with AAX as soon as possible given what has transpired last October and November.
