NVIDIA Reportedly Launching New GeForce RTX 3060 With New GA106-302 GPU

NVIDIA’s is reportedly planning to launch a new GA106-302 Ampere GPU that will feature a better, more effective cryptomining limiter. Moreover, the GPU is expected to ship out with the next batch of GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards, thus replacing the current GA106-300 GPU.

As a quick recap, NVIDIA launched its GeForce RTX 3060 back in February this year, while also promising that it will be limiting the GPU’s hashrate in an effort to deter GPU miners from strangling an already constricted supply chain.

Unfortunately, the GPU brand accidentally released a driver that effectively killed the limiter and it didn’t take long for miners already in possession of multiple RTX 3060s to exploit NVIDIA’s snafu, among other more creative bypasses.

The GA106-302 GPU is expected to launch next month, with NVIDIA saying that the released driver will not work with the new component, but will also feature “further mechanisms” to ensure that cryptomining – primarily, Ethereum – with the RTX 3060 will not be as profitable or cooperative as RTX 3060s running on the GA106-300 GPU.

I've said before, maybe not GA106 only.
For example, we would meet GA102-302/202 and GA104-302/202. https://t.co/pGghHbikbV

In addition to this bit of news, a tweet by popular leakster, kopite7kimi (@kopite7kimi) says that NVIDIA could also be launching anti-mining variants of its GA102 and GA104 GPUs. Although when exactly that is, is anyone’s guess for now.
