Buy Now, Pay Later Platform Atome Launches In Malaysia With Over 100 Merchants

‘Buy now, pay later’ (BNPL) platform Atome has officially launched in Malaysia featuring over 100 online and offline retailers. Paying with the app allows shoppers to split their bills into three zero-interest payments over time.

In Malaysia, Atome’s diverse array of merchant partners include Agoda, ezbuy, Eu Yan Sang, Hush Puppies, Obermain, Onikym, Lash Lab, Face Shop, Aprilskin, 176 Avenue, A Cut Above, Swee Lee Music, Novelship, Crumpler, Box of Bricks, Cocomi, Trapo, Liberty Active, Circle DNA, Tribe and Fly Project.

Here’s how the app works: It automatically splits your bill into 3 equal payments, making you pay the first at the point of purchase. The next two payments will be spread 30 days apart. Atome claims you won’t ever be charged with interest or hidden fees.

Shoppers can begin the BNPL process by scanning a QR code in-store or choosing Atome as a website checkout option. According to the platform, setting up an account takes less than two minutes and can be completed entirely on the mobile app.

The ability to pay later is certainly not new in Malaysia. Shopee (SPayLater) and Grab (PayLater) both have versions of this but they’re available only for select and/or eligible users.

Launched in Singapore in 2019, Atome claims to be Asia’s largest BNPL platform with over 2,000 merchant partners in seven markets – Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, and mainland China. Atome Malaysia’s app is now available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

For more information on the app, you can visit their official website.
