Let’s be realistic: supply scarcity notwithstanding, both the Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Microsoft Xbox Series X consoles are huge and dwarf their respective predecessors. IKEA knows this, and to that end, the Swedish furniture retail brand is helping customers decide with the aid of similarly-sized props.
In order to help their customers to make an informed decision about the furniture they wish to buy for their console, the company began making lookalike boxes of the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles.

It’s a wonderful, if not convenient idea, as it literally gives customers a real-life view of how much space the consoles will take up, but more importantly, will the new tablet or cabinets be able to house them, be it standing up or laid down on their sides. Its also a very thoughtful idea, as it means that customer won’t have to lug the consoles around – believe us when we say, they’re heavy – or bring their own prop to the warehouse.
It’s not clear if this initiative is on a global scale or if it is only being done in select countries. At this stage, we’re not even sure if IKEA Malaysia already has props for this.
