Last week, Geoff Keighley announced that nominees for The Game Awards 2020 will be announced this week. And as promised, the list nominees are now out. Unsurprisingly, The Last of Us II appears in nearly every relevant category.
Another five games will be competing for the main Game of the Year title. They are Hades, Ghost of Tsushima, Doom: Eternal, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Final Fantasy VII Remake. The first two are also fairly prominent, and at a glance look to be the second and third most nominated games, respectively.
Other highlights include Genshin Impact and Among Us for best mobile game. The inclusion of the latter here is a little odd, as regardless of its current popularity, the game was released back in 2018. Then there’s also Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, the surprise Mediatonic and Devolver Digital hit. This title is competing with Hades as the best indie game of the year.
