Plague Inc developer Ndemic Creations announced back in March a new game mode that involves curing people rather than killing. The game mode is officially called The Cure, and it is now out on Android and iOS. And best of all, the game mode is free until the COVID-19 pandemic comes to an end.
The Cure mode of Plague Inc involves more than just developing a vaccine. It also involves finding patient zero and tracking the spread of the outbreak. Beyond that, you’ll also need to control the outbreak of the new disease. This is done by implementing measures like lockdowns, and promoting hand washing. And of course, you’ll have to balance such measures with keeping the economy afloat.
The Cure is developed with the help of experts from the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness, the World Health Organisation (WHO), and the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network. But despite the realistic simulation of the process, Ndemic Creations reminds players that Plague Inc in general, and this particular game mode, are not scientific simulations.
That being said, Plague Inc serves as a great educational tool for the masses. Not only does the base game teaches people the way in which diseases spread around the world, The Cure mode teaches the way they are controlled, or even eradicated. As mentioned, the mode is now available and free on Android and iOS. As for PC and consoles, it will be coming soon, though no exact date was provided.
