Google will soon alert users on busy crowd congestion at certain areas via its dedicated Maps app. Amidst the global pandemic, this new implementation is sure to become a handy tool for users who are planning to make a visit to a certain place and cautiously plan their outings.

The new ‘Busyness Information’ feature was first introduced during Google’s Search On live stream event that was held recently. As seen in the screenshot below, Google Maps will now be equipped with a Busier Than Usual and As Busy As It Gets indicator under a locations name.

As an add-on to the Busyness Information feature, Google Maps will also be embedded with the ability to notify users on how congested a particular area is even while they are navigating there. This will simultaneously provide Maps users with the option to divert to another location if the desired destination is currently facing crowd congestion.

At the time of writing, Google has mentioned that it will release this feature soon on the Maps app for Android, iOS and desktop devices as well. Until then, be sure to keep the Google Maps app updated at all times to promptly receive this feature when it is made available in the near future.
