TREVO today has kicked off its newly announced Proof-of-Concept (POC) exercise with a RM2 million investment into providing financial aid for new hosts. Alongside the initiative, the SOCAR subsidiary brand also held the launch of its TREVO Lighthouse Activation Centre at Jalan Maarof in Bangsar, officiated by the minister of transport Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong.

According to the company, the financial aid is conducted in support of the government’s effort to mitigate the rakyat’s financial challenges through the PENJANA plan. Through this, TREVO is aiming to encourage more Malaysians to participate by sharing their vehicles via its peer-to-peer (P2P) car sharing service. A total of RM200 will be channelled to the first 10,000 new hosts who sign up with the platform. To qualify for the initiative, registration is open to Malaysians based in the Klang Valley, Penang and Kota Kinabalu who own cars not older than 12 years as of 31 December 2020. On top of that, the cars are also required to be available for booking on at least 14 days of each month.

“TREVO’s effort is in line with the National Transport Policy (NTP) 2019 – 2030, especially with respect to inclusivity and accessibility,” said Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong during the launch. “In addition, this POC study also aligns with the NTP’s policy thrust to strengthen governance to create a conducive environment for the transportation sector, by strengthening and streamlining the regulatory and development framework to meet market demands.”

“Our ultimate aim is to empower a safe and efficient car sharing marketplace,” shared TREVO general manager Susan Teoh. “Our POC is a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Transport to understand and enhance the industry further with focus on protecting public interest.”

Meanwhile, the newly launched TREVO Lighthouse Activation Centre aims to strengthen support systems in tandem with the P2P car sharing platform’s expanding community by holding 30-minute onboarding sessions from 9am to 5.30pm daily. In addition, regular community activities will also be organised for members at the location.
