Garmin Brings Solar Charging To More Smartwatches: Available In Malaysia For RM 1999 Onwards

Solar charging may have existed within the watch industry for quite some time but only last year Garmin has started to offer it to consumers with the release of Fenix 6X Pro Solar. Now, the option can be obtained in other models as well which have been made available in Malaysia since earlier this month.

One of them is the new Instinct Solar which apparently has unlimited battery life according to Garmin although this can only be obtained through the watch’s Battery Save mode. In Expedition mode, the battery life would be reduced to around two months which is still quite significant.

Even in Smartwatch mode, the Instinct Solar can last for more than 50 days or between 38 hours in GPS mode. Of course, this is provided the watch receives enough exposure to the solar light which is aplenty in Malaysia given our climate. At the same time, Garmin has also added PulseOx and Body Battery functionalities into the Instinct Solar.

Meanwhile, Garmin has also introduced the Solar Edition models for the Fenix 6S Pro and Fenix 6 Pro to accompany last year’s Fenix 6X Pro Solar. In terms of general features, they are pretty much equivalent to the standard model but naturally, the Solar Edition models offer a much longer battery life.

For example, the Fenix 6S Pro Solar offers up to 10.5 days of battery in Smartwatch mode while the Fenix 6 Pro Solar can go even further up to 16 days. In GPS mode, they can be operational for up to 28 hours and 40 hours, respectively.

In terms of pricing, the standard Instinct Solar is available for RM 1999 with the exception of the Camo Graphite colourway that goes for RM 2199 which is the same price for the Instinct Solar Tactical models. On another hand, the Fenix 6S Solar and Fenix 6 Pro Solar can be obtained for RM 4199 each.

As mentioned earlier, all of these new Garmin Solar Edition smartwatches are readily available in Malaysia through Garmin official stores on Lazada and Shopee. Alternatively, customers can also purchase them at Garmin Brand Stores and authorised Garmin retailers throughout Malaysia.
