Honda Malaysia has issued a recall for 55,354 vehicles manufactured between 2018 and 2019 as a precautionary measure, in line with the Honda global fuel pump recall. According to a report by Bernama, the company believes that the move is necessary as a preventive measure to ensure customer safety.

The automaker stated that the affected vehicles may experience the loss of engine power or even vehicle stalling if the issue is not addressed to. The replacement of the affected fuel pump is free of charge and all cost related to its maintenance will be borne by Honda Malaysia. The company also noted that the stock for the replacement units will be available in stages.

The following are the affected models listed by Honda Malaysia:

  • Accord (2018)
  • BR-V (2018)
  • City / City HEV (2019)
  • Civic (2018)
  • CR-V (2018 & 2019)
  • HR-V / HR-V HEV (2018)
  • Jazz / Jazz HEV (2019)

Affected customers will be informed via notification letters which will include details of the product recall, the company added. Upon receiving the notification, the customer is urged to contact any Honda authorised dealer to schedule an appointment for the fuel pump replacement. Additionally, they can also refer to the Product Recall page via the automaker’s official website for more information.

Honda Malaysia also reassured customers that all of its 2020 production models are not affected in this product recall, and has issued an apology for the inconvenience caused.
