After introducing PRIHATIN and PRIHATIN PKS Tambahan economic stimulus plans earlier this year, the government today has announced yet another stimulus plan called Pelan Jana Semula Ekonomi Negara (PENJANA) to further counter the negative impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has on Malaysia.
According to the speech by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, PENJANA features a total of 40 initiatives that altogether worth RM 35 billion and RM 10 billion out of that amount is a direct fiscal injection by the government. Among initiatives that are part of PENJANA is the RM 50 e-wallet credit, 1GB free daily data, and also this: the new MY30 unlimited travel pass for Rapid KL.
In his speech, PM Muhyiddin stated that the new pass is meant to ease the burden of public transportation for the Rakyat. At only RM 30 per month, MY30 holders can travel without any limitations on MRT, LRT, and Monorel trains as well as BRT, Rapid KL, and MRT feeder buses for only RM 30 per month.
In general, you are getting the benefits of the existing MY100 unlimited travel pass with a massive discount of 70% per month. However, the MY30 travel pass is not a permanent product though as it can only be utilized until the end of December 2020.
While PM Muhyiddin stated that the pass will be available on 15 June, Rapid KL has yet to provide more details regarding My30 at the moment though. So, stay tuned as we will keep you posted once we receive further updates about the new travel pass from the company.
