Christopher Nolan’s TENET is Still Sticking to Its Release Date Despite Covid-19

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been reporting on the plethora of films that are being postponed due to the Coronavirus, Covid-19 Pandemic. The deadly virus has hit Hollywood hard as quite literally every movie that was scheduled to come out over the next few weeks and months have been pushed back. Some, like No Time to Die have been postponed to the end of the year, while others are still currently TBD. Fast & Furious 9, which was supposed to hit the big screen late May has been postponed an entire year.

However, it looks like Warner Bros is confident (or at the very least, they’re hoping) that the pandemic will be over and done with by the time we reach the second half of the year, as it looks like the studio will not be postponing one of their most anticipated movies of the year, Tenet. According to Deadline, Warner Bros has decided to keep Tenet‘s 17 July (16 July in Malaysia) release date.

TENET

Tenet stars John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman), Robert Pattinson (Good Time), Elizabeth Debicki (Widows) and of course, Nolan’s lucky charm, Michael Caine, and is described as a massive action blockbuster. It’s shot using a combination of 70MM and IMAX cameras, with Dunkirk cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema back handling the camera.

While there is no official synopsis of Tenet yet, we can deduce from the trailer that it’s an espionage film of sorts, in which the lead character’s failure to complete his mission could lead to World War III. There’s also some mindf*ckery time manipulation going on.

Fingers crossed, our lives will all be back to normal by the time July comes along.
