From Samsung smartphones to Coke bottles, the whole world is celebrating the arrival of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on 20 December. This time around, Facebook is providing new features for its users to express their love and fandom of Star War with a chat theme, reactions, stickers, and AR effects on their Messenger platform.
As part of a partnership with Disney, this limited-edition Facebook Messenger theme includes Star Wars’ signature starry backdrop for chat threads, as well as reactions and stickers featuring the characters from The Rise of Skywalker such as Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, BB8, and so on.
Of course – Messenger’s AR effects for photos, short clips and video calls also get the Star Wars treatment with three different effects to choose from. These include the Lightspeed Effect that sends you travelling through hyperspace, the Cockpit Effect that places you in Poe Dameron’s X-Wing, and the Dark vs Light Effect that either brings you to the Light side of the Force or tempt you to join the Dark side.
The Star Wars theme on Facebook Messenger is available now for users to have fun with. To activate the theme, simply open a Messenger thread and then tap its name which is located at the top of the thread settings. From there, select “theme” and then tap on the Star Wars theme icon to bring that galaxy far, far away closer to home.
