Boost today introduced three new features it says it would be adding to its cashless payment system. Firstly, it announced that it was officially in a partnership with UnionPay International (UnionPay), the China-based financial institution, in an effort to expand its merchant footprint in Malaysia.

Effective immediately, Boost users will be able to use UnionPay at more almost 125000 merchant store within the country and even enjoy special UnionPay discounts and promotions. In addition to existing Boost offers. During the event, Boost also said that its cashless payment system will soon be available for use globally in 31 countries and at nearly 11 million merchant outlets.

To use the UnionPay option, Boost users will be given a choice to either allow participating merchants to scan their respective QR codes or scan the merchant’s QR code.

The second feature to be announced was its CashUp feature. In essence, this initiative is Boost’s way of providing cashbacks to its customers whenever they pay with its system at their favourite online stores. To that end, rewards earned from shopping will be both instantly and directly transferred back into their Boost Wallet upon confirmation of the spending from the participating merchant.

Moreover, Boost users will also be able to earn double or more rewards when users make a purchase at Boosted partner stores. To sweeten the pot even further, all cashback earned have unlimited expiration dates, meaning that Boost users can continue to accumulate their cashback rewards and points.

Last but not least, Boost also announced its new rewards system, BoostUp. Boost explains that it came up with the system based on the feedback from its customers. Saying that they wanted more than just cash rewards for using the payment system.

BoostUp will reward Boost Coins to users with every transaction. On top of that, the new feature also introduces a Shake function, where users will be required to shake their phone to stand a chance to win extra Boost Coins, cashback in their Boost Wallet, prizes, and a chance to win a Golden Ticket.

For the lucky recipient who wins a Golden Ticket, you’ll be in the running for “exclusive lifestyle giveaways” that range from overseas trips, getaways, or a meet-up with local celebrities.

BoostUp will also introduce a new tier system. Simply put, Boost users will be given access to a levelling system, starting from level one and peaking at level four. At level four, users will be given access to special BoostUp benefits, including 20% off your bill when visiting the Plaza Premium Lounge.

You can download the Boost app via Google Play for Android devices and Apple App store for iOS. In regards to the UnionPay QR feature, Boost says that the feature will be made available on the app from 1 November onwards.
