M For Malaysia was initially only set to screen in local theatres for four days, from the 12th – 15th of September. However, due to popular demand, the film will be extending its stay on the big screen until the 18th of September. The news comes courtesy of the film’s distributor Astro Shaw, who in a Tweet said:

“Due to popular demand, we’ve added more locations for M For Malaysia. Let’s come together and experience the tale of one of our nation’s most historic moments. Who cried after watching it?”

In their tweet, Astro Shaw also included a picture stating that the film has been extended till the 18th, along with the locations in which its screened.

Fuhh, atas permintaan ramai, lokasi tayangan filem dokumentari @mformalaysia ditambah! Jom ramai-ramai selami kisah bersejarah negara kita gais! Ada yg menangis lepas tengok tak? Hihi

M For Malaysia is a documentary on the 2018 Malaysian General Elections, which saw one of the longest-ruling party-based government in the world — that was at the time being run by a Kleptocrat — overthrown by the Malaysian rakyat. The elections also saw Tun Dr. Mahathir, the 92-year-old former prime minister of Malaysia once again take his place on the proverbial Iron Throne.

In my review I wrote:

Not only were we fighting against one of the great — to quote a line from Harry Potter, “He Who Must Not Be Named did great things. Terrible, yes, but great,” — political scoundrels of the 21st-century (an absolute asshole, Najib), not only did we witness Tun Mahathir rise from the proverbial depths of the ocean, cleansed — a changed man akin to Jamie Lannister of Game of Thrones (one scene shows Tun M admitting to the mistakes he’s done in the past), we also saw him and his former associate, the man he once unjustly put in prison, shake hands and come together to take down the devil incarnate. The narrative transcended realism into the realm of Valmikian mythology.

M For Malaysia is currently screening in Malaysian cinemas.
