Here’s Why The realme C2 Should Be The Entry-Level Phone Of Your Choice

The entry-level market for smartphones is as competitive as ever, with solid contenders coming in every few months. One of them is the realme C2, which made its way to Malaysia back in May. It will be getting a promotional discount on 5 August, which makes it one of the best entry-level phones to pick up.

To quickly recap, the realme C2 comes with a 6.1-inch HD+ display with a dewdrop notch, a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The phone also comes with a 4000mAh battery.

In terms of cameras, the realme C2 comes with a 13MP + 2MP rear camera setup, and a 5MP front-facing camera in the dewdrop notch. And with its promotional price of RM349, it’s also one of the most affordable smartphones out there.

But does the realme C2 compare well against the competition? Let’s find out by pitting it against two phones from one of the most competitive brands out there, Xiaomi. In the same market segment, the company has the Redmi 7, as well as the Redmi 7A.

To start, both Redmi 7 and the Redmi 7A come with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, just like the realme C2. Similarly, both Xiaomi phones also come with a 4000mAh battery, and an HD+ display. Underneath their respective UI overlays, these devices also run Android 9 Pie.

With the similarities out of the way, what sets the realme C2 apart from the Redmi 7 and 7A? First, and probably most importantly, the realme C2 is more affordable than both Xiaomi devices, even if only temporarily. As mentioned earlier, the realme C2 will be priced at RM349 during its promotion period. This makes it more affordable than Redmi 7 and Redmi 7A which are priced at RM499 and RM399 respectively.

Then there’s the camera setup: Redmi 7 has a 12MP + 2MP rear camera combo, and an 8MP front-facing camera in a waterdrop notch. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi 7A only has one 13MP main camera and a 5MP camera in front.

This puts the realme C2 ahead of the Redmi 7A. It’s a toss-up between the realme C2’s 13MP + 2MP rear camera combo and 5MP front-facing camera, or the Xiaomi Redmi 7’s 12MP + 2MP rear camera setup and 8MP front-facing camera.

And finally, there’s the size of the devices. As mentioned, the realme C2 measures in at 6.1 inches. While Redmi 7 comes in at a similar 6.26 inches, but the Redmi 7A is quite significantly smaller, at 5.45 inches. Unless you like smaller phones, it’s a choice between realme C2 and Redmi 7 again.

As mentioned earlier, the realme C2 will be getting a promotional price cut on 5 August, bringing its price down to RM349. You can find the promotion and more details about it, at the Official realme Store on Shopee.
