Earlier in the year, a patent application by Apple suggested that it is working on a foldable iPhone. New reports state that, rather than a phone, it will instead be an iPad. Not only that, but the foldable iPad in question will also be equipped with 5G.
Such is the claim by IHS Markit analyst Jeff Lin, according to BGR. This upcoming Apple tablet will feature the latest A series processor, and a display almost the size of a MacBook’s. It will also have “business-friendly” features, which sounds like it may be an iteration of the iPad Pro.
That said, Lin did not describe what the design of the device will be like. This leaves it quite open as to the way the iPad in question will fold, or the number of hinges that it will have. It could even be something like Intel’s Twin Rivers prototype, with two separate displays and more like a laptop than a tablet.
Lin also claims that this foldable iPad could launch as soon as next year. This may mean that Apple will have a 5G-ready iPad before an iPhone.
