Tetris 99, as an idea, is plenty insane. But for those who don’t have a Nintendo Switch but would really like to have a Tetris battle royale, then this game will be the one for you. Fittingly, the name is simply Tetris Royale.
Tetris Royale is made by developer N3TWORK and The Tetris Company. If it’s not already obvious, the game involves the game of Tetris, battled out among 100 players. If you want a more traditional Tetris experience, the game will also feature modes like solo marathon.
The Verge reports that the partnership between N3TWORK and The Tetris Company will be one that spans multiple years. This could mean that there will be more games being made as a result. That said, one wonders if the Tetris formula can be varied enough to justify sequels.
Tetris Royale is currently in development for both iOS and Android. A beta is also slated to be available by the end of this year. That said, there’s no exact date for that, or for an official release, for that matter.
