Fast charging tech has been improving steadily, but it still takes quite awhile for a phone to be fully charged. Vivo looks to be changing this, with its 120W Super FlashCharge tech.
The details are all in the name really. But to break it down, the 120W equates to 20V/6A, pushed through a USB-C cable. This charges an empty 4000mAh battery to 50% in five minutes, and 13 minutes to full. That’s way faster than any other fast charging tech out there right now.
Surprisingly, the phone being charged doesn’t feel too warm. Heat is quite the common issue with fast charging tech, but the device being charged by the 120W fast charger doesn’t end up being warmer than any other fast charging tech. It’s plenty impressive, but aside from a custom USB-C cable, Vivo was light on details regarding the way this was achieved.
While this all sounds very interesting indeed, this looks to still be a prototype. There’s no indication as of yet if, and when, we’ll see phones supporting this coming out into the market.
