This year’s E3 event will be an odd one, from the look of things. First, Sony won’t be having a presence there for the first time in the 24-year history of E3. And now, we learn that Netflix will be there with some gaming news to announce.
An official Netflix Twitter account had a scripted conversation with the E3 Twitter account, teasing the former’s presence at the event. As part of the teaser, Netflix mentioned having some gaming news to talk about, which involves the upcoming Stranger Things 3 game.
The E3 Twitter account then made an official announcement regarding Netflix’s panel:

For context, Stranger Things 3: The Game will be launched alongside the Netflix show on 4 July 2019. The game will be made available then on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. Fans of the series will also be aware of the first Stranger Things game, which is based on the first two seasons of the show.
It looks like Netflix is making a committed step into the gaming market. Will it be filling the gap that Sony left behind? Probably not, but it will be worth seeing what the streaming service has to offer all the same.
