If you’ve been looking at getting your hands on the Honor 8X, you’ll be happy to know that the brand’s new smartphone has officially landed on our shores. The phone, which first launched in China last month, features some meagre yet pretty impressive mid-range hardware.

The Honor 8X’s primary appeal is undoubtedly its 6.5-inch Full HD+ display. Honor is quite proud of the display’s 19.5: 9 aspect ratio too, enveloping approximately 91% of the phone’s surface.

In terms of hardware, the Honor 8X is packing Huawei’s Kirin 710 SoC, 4GB RAM, and 128GB of expandable storage (up to 400GB via microSD card). Powering it all up is a 3750mAh non-removable battery. For security, the phone sports a fingerprint sensor that is located at the back, as well as facial recognition technology.

Ports-wise, the phone uses a micro USB port for charging and file transfers. Surprisingly, the Honor 8X also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. For its software, the Honor 8X will run Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.2 out of the box.

Camera-wise, the Honor 8X features a 20MP + 2MP f/1.8 dual main camera array, while the front-facing camera is a single 16MP f/2.0 sensor. Thanks to the Kirin 710 SoC and its NPU, the cameras are also supported by AI. Last but not least, the phone is capable of housing two nano SIM cards, and a microSD card slot.

The Honor 8X will be available online via the brand’s official page and Shopee starting from 12 October onwards at a retail price of RM949. For those of you who purchase the phone online, Honor will also include additional gifts. This includes a flip cover for the phone, a gift box, a RM100 voucher, but more importantly, an Honor Band 3 worth RM119 absolutely free.

For those of you who wish to purchase the phone offline, you’ll be able to purchase the phone from all authorised resellers after 13 October onwards. On top of that, Honor will be hosting roadshows for the phone between 13 and 14 October at three different locations. This include MyTown in Cheras, Prangin Mall in Penang, and Aeon Bukit Indah in Johor Bharu.

Just like the online deal, those who purchase the Honor 8X at these roadshows will also be given an Honor Band 3, one special gift box, a flip cover for the Honor 8X, a RM50 Hihonor voucher, and a Honor-themed backpack.
