Here Is The First Look At Astro New User Interface and Features: Coming In 2019

As you might be able to recall, Astro has recently announced that it will be releasing a new set-top box later this year that will be able to support its 4K UHD broadcast. However, that is not the only tech update that the pay-TV provider has in store though.

During the company’s analyst presentation for its 2QFY19 financial report earlier this week, Astro has provided a glimpse of the update that apparently will be delivered to its customers in 2019. Even though the company has briefly mentioned the update in its 1QFY19 financial announcement back in June, this is the first time that the actual design is shown publicly.

Among new features that customers can expect from the update is a brand-new user interface that is apparently can be personalized to each member of the household. Not only that, each profile will also receive a personalized recommendation based on their viewing habits.

The slide also includes references to enhanced search capability that will be included in the new user interface. There is also a mention of adaptive bitrate streaming implementation which we assume related to the cloud-based contents that Astro has stated in its 1QFY19 financial announcement.

Astro didn’t reveal the exact roll date for these upgrades but as stated on the presentation slide, expect to see them by January 2019 which is the end of its FY19.
