VAIO Re-Enters Malaysian Market With S11 and S13 Notebooks

The last we heard of the name VAIO was a few months back when we heard the brand will be making a return in the country via licensee Nexstgo. Looks like we might be hearing the name even more often from now on as the brand has made a return into Malaysia.

There are two distinct models with the VAIO name – the S11 and S13. Starting with the smaller model, the VAIO S11 comes equipped with a 11.6-inch Full HD IPS display, an Intel Core i5-8250U 1.6GHz processor, 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 256GB PCIe SSD for internal storage and an integrated fingerprint sensor.

It’s also got a LAN port, a 3.5mm audio jack, a HDMI port, a VGA port, an SD card reader and three USB 3.0 ports, one of it you can use to charge other devices. Powering it is a 4-cell lithium polymer battery and all of these components are packed into a carbon fibre chassis.

The larger model has largely the same specs, as mentioned earlier. What’s different aside from the size and its corresponding 13.3-inch Full HD IPS display, is the fact that you can opt for the Intel Core i7-8550U 1.8GHz processor alongside of up to 16GB RAM and 512GB PCIe SSD. Not to forget, it also features a magnesium alloy body instead of carbon fibre.

One thing that Nexstgo touts in both models is what it calls the VAIO TruePerformance tech, which improves the performance of processors in both models by 11% to 13%. Both models have a battery life of at least 8 hours, and requires only one hour of charging to regain 80% of its capacity.

The VAIO S11 comes in five colours – black, brown, pink, silver and white, and is priced between RM6499 and RM6699, depending on the version of Windows 10 that you pick. The VAIO S13, on the other hand, only comes in black or silver. That said, because there’s a larger range of specs that you can choose from, the price range is also larger, from RM6199 to RM8399.

Both laptops will be available starting this Saturday, 18 August 2018 from VAIO outlets in Plaza Low Yat and Digital Mall. Alternatively, users are also able to purchase them through VAIO official store on Lazada. As part of the brand’s launch promo, all VAIO laptops purchased until 17 September will receive one year of extended warranty.
