If moon photography is your thing, then the new Nikon Coolpix P1000 may be the camera for you. The bridge camera features an insane 24-3000mm lens or about 125x times zoom.
Coupled with a 16-megapixel back-side illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor, the lens has an aperture range from f/2.8-8 and an ISO rating of up to 6400. Nikon has also implemented two zoom speeds to ensure accurate and speedy subject capture with the lens.
That’s not all though as the 125x zoom can be further enhanced to 250x thanks to Nikon Dynamic Fine Zoom. Users can even go higher by using the camera’s 4x digital zoom feature which would push the zoom up to 500x or 12000mm although there would be a substantial loss in image quality.
The Nikon P1000 also does video at 4K and 1080p, with frame rates of up to 30fps for the former and 60fps for the latter. Connectivity is handled by both WiFi and Bluetooth, and each full battery gives up to 250 shots. It also supports RAW capture, one of the few non-DSLR cameras to have that feature.
Meanwhile, users can compose their shots through the 2.36 million dot LCD EVF or the fully articulating 3.2-LCD display although it has no touch capability. Nikon is pricing the Coolpix P1000 at US$ 999.95 (RM 4,029) and will be shipping it from September onwards.
