Telekom Malaysia earlier today has sent invites to media outlets regarding a media briefing has been scheduled to take place at its headquarters tomorrow, 3 July. While such short notice is nothing out of ordinary especially when it comes to government ministries and GLCs, the fact that it was referred to a “special media briefing” in the invite has certainly sparked our curiosity.
The media invite further stated that the briefing will be jointly conducted by TM’s Executive Director and Acting Group CEO, Bazlan Othman as well as the company’s CFO, Nor Fadhilah Mohd Ali. Given their presence, this gives an impression that some major announcement from TM will take place at the briefing.
After all, the company has recently announced it will be cooperating with the government who is working to reduce the price of broadband services in Malaysia. Within the same announcement, TM has promised to reveal its take on that matter in Q3 2018 which has just begin this week.
With that, make sure to tune in again tomorrow for all the updates from TM special media briefing. Once again, we do hope that it is not yet another “bawang” announcement.
