Dell G Series Goes Official: The Company’s New Gaming Laptop Series

While most of us can be easily impressed by high-end gaming laptops, they come with hefty price tag which lead to the popularity of entry-level and mid-range gaming laptop series. For Dell, this particular part of the market is represented by its Inspiron Gaming series but starting from today onwards, it will be replaced by the all-new Dell G Series.

Just like the Inspiron Gaming series, the Dell G Series is designed to allows consumers to get into gaming at the price point that is much lower than Alienware. While the series itself is divided into three different family in the form of G3, G5, and G7, their specifications are not far from each other.

Processor-wise, gamers are able to obtain the G Series laptop with the newly announced Intel Coffee Lake-H processors in the form of either Intel Core i5-8300HQ or Intel Core i7-8750HQ although they can also opt for the Intel Core i9-8950HQ CPU too for the G7 models. In terms of graphics, the G Series laptops maxed out at NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM.

While Dell only provides its G Series gaming laptops with up to 16GB of RAM, they actually able to support up to 32GB of RAM which customers can purchased separately. These laptops can be obtained with up to 512GB PCIe solid state drive or the combination of 256GB solid state drive and 1TB 5400rpm hard drive for those who prefer dual drive solution instead.

In terms of display, the G3 models can be obtained with 15 and 17-inch IPS display although their native resolution is limited to full HD. The G5 and G7 models do come with 4K option but they only come with 15-inch IPS display.

In United States, the price of Dell G3 15 gaming laptops starts at USD 749 (about RM 2901) while the Dell G3 17 and G5 15 models has starting price of USD 799 (about RM 3095). The Dell G7 15 gaming laptops on another hand starts from USD 849 (about RM 3288) onwards.

However, their availability and pricing in Malaysia are not yet known at the moment. We’ll keep you updated once we receive any info from Dell Malaysia regarding the arrival of Dell G Series gaming laptops in our market.
