Asus Announces BIOS Support For AMD Ryzen 2000 Series Desktop APUs

Asus has announced a new BIOS update to enable some of its AM4-compatible motherboards to support AMD’s recently released Ryzen 2000 series desktop APUs; these are the Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G. Both these processors are somewhat “special” because they feature an integrated Radeon Vega GPU.

According to Asus, its “quick-and-easy BIOS update delivers instant compatibility with AMD Ryzen 2000 Series APUs.” The company detailed two methods on how a consumer can apply the update. The first one being to directly download the latest EUFI BIOS update from the company’s official website to a USB flash drive (FAT32). Once this is done, users can then simply connect the USB flash drive onto the motherboard, and then press the USB BIOS flashback or reset button.

An easier method would be for users to apply the BIOS update through the Asus EZ Flash 3 utility. This method allows the BIOS update to directly be applied either from a USB flash drive or downloaded off the internet. That aside, the company has also reminded users to update to the latest Radeon Vega graphics driver to ensure the integrated Vega GPU is working as intended.

More detailed instructions and list of supported motherboards can be found on Asus’ official website.
