Back in April 2016, ASUS introduced a highly unique offering in our market in the form of the ROG GX700 gaming laptop. What made the GX700 interesting is not really about the massive firepower that the company has equipped to the laptop but the fact that it is a liquid cooled system – and comes complete with its own suitcase.
When it was first introduced in Malaysia, the GX700 was priced at an eye-watering price of RM 18,999. Now, it can be obtained through Brightstar Computer’s store on Lazada at a significantly reduced price of (just?) RM 10,983.
Of course, the GX700’s specifications are rather outdated in 2017 despite being a cutting-edge product when ASUS first introduced it in Malaysia last year. Powered by an overclockable Intel Core-i7-6820HK and a desktop-grade NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980, the laptop also features 32GB RAM, 512GB PCIe solid state drive, and 17.3-inch full HD 75Hz IPS display with support for NVIDIA G-Sync technology.
Given its age and status, it is certainly not something that one would purchase as a gaming laptop in 2017 but nevertheless, the machine is still a sight to behold. Maybe there’s someone out there who would like to own this machine as a collector’s item and appreciate it as an engineering masterpiece.
