Its premium Surface Pro devices now come with RM400 discount vouchers on most variants – with the best value for money model going for a price that leaves us wondering if it is a price mistake.
The Surface Pro with Core i5, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD is the mid-range variant in the series, and strikes a good balance between performance and price. Its retail price is still pretty cheap, going for RM5,899 without a Signature Type Cover, which costs an additional RM669.
Today, Gloo Store, a popular IT retailer, is offering this particular model with an attractive bundle for just RM5,099 – plus a RM500 voucher code takes it down to just RM4,599 (which is almost the same price as the base Core m3 and Type Cover combo). This bundle includes a Type Cover, extended 1 year warranty, Office 365 Personal, and a games scratch card.
This is perhaps the best laptop deal we’ve found today, and while it feels like a price mistake, it isn’t: the Microsoft Brand Store in Lazada is selling this Surface Pro model with Type Cover for RM5,199 – the RM500 voucher code applies here too, driving the price further down to RM4,699. We’re leaning towards the Gloo Store bundle as the better option for obvious reasons.
If you don’t need so much processing power or storage space, the lower-end Surface Pro models are worth considering too. For those looking for an extremely lightweight Windows machine for web browsing and basic usage, the Core m3 model is going for RM2,988 with a RM400 voucher code to push it down to just RM2,588. While this comes with an extended warranty, it does not come with a Type Cover.
The next best option is the Core i5, 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM option, which is also going for a steep discount. Gloo Store offers two bundles for this, priced at RM4,199 and RM4,345 – the RM400 voucher code is applicable to both listings – and both come with 1 year extended warranties and a Type Cover. While the RM4,199 bundle offers an F-Secure Server Security subscription as well as a Seagate 1TB external hard disk, the RM4,345 option has an Office 365 subscription; it’s down to personal choice as to which is the better bundle.
