The iPhone X has proven to be a rather unusual device, particularly considering its battery capacity. What has proven more curious is Apple’s solution to powering the premium smartphone; sticking it with not one, but two batteries.
A Chinese Youtube channel opened the iPhone X up to display the internals, in the process revealing the interesting engineering solution. Having two batteries explains the odd 2716mAh capacity, yet raises more questions about the engineering obstacles that were overcome.

This might be the first time we’ve seen a dual battery smartphone, and we’re not entirely sure what to make of it. It’s certainly an interesting arrangement that makes maximum use of space in the iPhone. Which is perhaps an important innovation in the future of smartphones as we race towards smaller devices.
