Ever have a friend that shares too much on Facebook, posting all day and all night long, be it random viral things or their vacation pictures? You may soon be able to temporarily mute that friend without having to unfollowing them completely. TechCrunch reports that Facebook is testing a Snooze feature on its platform, allowing you to temporarily mute not just friends, but also pages or groups for up to 30 days.
TechCrunch first discovered the Snooze on Facebook’s desktop site in the U.S. Just tap on the three dots located on the right side of a post; Snooze is located right below the “Hide post” option. Facebook allow users to Snooze a friend, page or group for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.
Sure, you could always unfollow friends or pages that shares too much, but if you do not wish to severe the connection completely, this new feature sounds like a great solution. Facebook has confirmed to TechCrunch that this is only a test, as they wish to “give people control over their News Feed so they can stay connected with the stories they find most relevant.”
