LG Launches the “Wallpaper” Signature 4K OLED W7 TV in Malaysia; Retails at RM44,999

LG’s very impressive Signature 4K OLED W7 TV has finally been launched in Malaysia. Initially showcased at CES 2017 earlier this year, this extremely thin TV is now available for pre-order locally. As expected, however, the OLED W7 TV is not affordable.

The Signature 4K OLED W7 features what LG dubs “picture-on-wall” design, which is a reference to the wallpaper-like appearance of the TV. After all, the W in its model name really stands for wallpaper, and you can’t put this TV on a stand: it has to be mounted on a wall, and it’s done so with a magnetic mounting system.

LG managed to cut down on the thickness of the OLED W7 thanks to the inherent property of OLED technology. As OLED panels don’t require the same backlighting of conventional LCD TVs, the display can be as thin as possible – in this case, it’s only 3.8mm thin. On top of that, LG also moved the guts of the TV to its Dolby Atmos soundbar; it connects to the TV via a proprietary cable.

Aside from its very sleek design, other specifications of the OLED W7 are also impressive. It supports all four main HDR standards – HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG, and Technicolor’s Advanced HDR – offers a 65-inch 4K resolution display, and runs on LG’s WebOS 3.5 smart TV software.

Without a doubt the 65-inch LG Signature 4K OLED W7 TV is very impressive, and it has a price tag to match: it retails at a whopping RM44,999. However, the 4K TV can now be pre-ordered at LG’s ongoing roadshow at Pavilion KL until 6 August for RM39,999, but this is only limited to 10 units. Every pre-order will also come with a complimentary travel voucher worth RM2,000.

Unfortunately, LG currently has no plans to bring in the 77-inch model into Malaysia, although the company mention that it may do so next year. The OLED W7 will start shipping to consumers by the end of this month, and it will also be available for purchase at Harvey Normal outlets then.
