Assassin’s Creed is set to receive the anime treatment. Director Adi Shankar revealed on Facebook that he has been tapped to create an origin story for the popular game franchise, although no details are available yet.
Shankar’s announcement doesn’t sound all that surprising, since he has just finished making an animated series for Castlevania on Netflix. He managed to recruit some impressive talent for the Netflix series, including legendary comic writer Warren Ellis. Which raises questions about who might be brought on board for the Assassin’s Creed project.
Although, Netflix probably had a much bigger budget than Ubisoft does.
This isn’t the first time that Ubisoft has tried to get Assassin’s Creed beyond video games. There was the movie starring Michael Fassbender last year. Which flopped badly at the box office and only served to reinforce the belief that video game movies are always bad.
