Fidget spinners have gotten pretty popular over the past couple of months, and it seems like Razer is capitalising on this craze. Tan Min-Liang – the CEO of Razer – posted on his Instagram account of a fidget spinner in the shape of Razer’s logo; Tan elaborated that the spinner may be up for grabs too.
According to Tan, the Razer-shaped fidget spinner is a prototype from a member of Razer’s engineering team. While it’s merely a prototype at this point in time, Tan asked his followers on Instagram if the fidget spinner should be given away at the launch of Razer’s new store in Hong Kong.
Aside from that, Tan also added if the fidget spinner should be “an exclusive swag to be claimed with zSilver” instead – zSilver is Razer’s own digital currency. If Razer does intend to make the fidget spinner claimable only through zSilver, that would make it more difficult for consumers to get their hands on the spinner.
In retrospect, a Razer-shaped fidget spinner is not new: quite a number of people have used 3D printers and the likes to make similar-looking fidget spinners, although the one posted by Tan looks more polished and “Razer-like.”
At the moment, it still remains to be seen if consumers can actually get their hands on the Razer fidget spinner. While some may consider the fidget spinner to be a fad (or merely a toy), we imagine it’ll make for an interesting gift – especially for Razer fans.
