Your Uber rating system is more than just a guideline for the next passenger or driver. It can be used to encourage you to have a better behaviour as a rider, which is why Uber is updating is rating system to make it easier for riders to view their current rating. Uber is also updating the its rating system for drivers, to give them a fairer rating.
We all expect an enjoyable and safe ride as a passenger, and it’s only fair that we treat drivers and their cars properly too. Riders are rated for different things like eating in the car, slamming the door, or trying to fit in more passengers than the vehicle can accommodate.
Last year, Uber updated its support system to allow passengers to check their rating. However, it was not as direct, and you would need to dig deep into the Help menu in order to access your rating. With this update, riders can now see their rating right under their name in the app’s menu.
As for drivers, Uber is also adjusting its POOL ratings to make it fairer for their drivers. The company says that there may be other factors outside of the driver’s control that affects their ratings, like maybe the rider was unhappy with the match Uber’s algorithm made, or their co-rider was too chatty. With this update, when riders rate a POOL trip less than 5 stars, they can select additional reasons why.
“We believe that drivers’ ratings shouldn’t be affected by things outside their control, so we’re adjusting the POOL rating system to make it fairer for drivers. Now, when riders rate a POOL trip less than 5 stars, they can select additional reasons why. And when the reason is something like the route or co-rider behavior, we won’t count the rating toward the driver’s average.”
