Uber will be operating in Kuantan as part of its Chinese New Year celebrations. The ride sharing service will have cars on the streets of capital of Pahang for one month starting today.
This isn’t the first time that Uber has tested the waters of a new location by using the pop up strategy. It did the same thing last year in Ipoh, which was later expanded into full service coverage for the city. Chances are, the month-long time limit will be extended in the event that there is still demand for Uber after CNY.
Uber is saying that there will be a limited number of cars available at the beginning of this run, but it will be adding more as time passes. Which really doesn’t sound like something that will only happen for a month.
New Uber users will be entitled to four rides worth RM5 each if they use the promo code RIDEUBERKUANTAN. These codes are only valid until 28 February 2017.
