Gigabyte Unveils Aorus Branded GTX 1080 Graphics Card

In a bid to further increase its presence in the graphics card market, Gigabyte has unveiled a brand new Aorus branded graphics card called the  GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Edition. Interestingly, this is the first graphics card to bear the Aorus branding.

Oddly, Aorus’ GTX 1080 Xtreme Edition graphics card offering looks exactly like Gigabyte’s GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming graphics card, at least design-wise. Both graphics cards come with almost identical colour schemes, dimensions, connectivity ports, and cooling solution. That said, their differences do start to become apparent when compared in terms of clock speeds.

Aorus’ GTX 1080 Xtreme Edition graphics card is said to come with base and boost GPU clock speeds of 1784MHz and 1936MHz respectively, which is slightly higher than Gigabyte’s GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming graphics card. This may indicate the fact that Gigabyte may opt to introduce its most powerful PC components under the Aorus branding in the future – or it could just be a coincidence.

Another stark difference that can be found on the Aorus GTX 1080 Xtreme Edition graphics card is its backplate. Unlike the Gigabyte variant, Aorus has endowed the GPU block area of the graphics card with a copper finish. In addition, the Aorus eagle logo on the backplate is LED-lit too. Unfortunately, pricing and date of availability was not mentioned by Gigabyte and Aorus.
