LG may have made several announcements like new mid-range smartphones for 2017 as well as a levitating speaker ahead of its event in CES 2017, but the company is not done with things yet. They have just unveiled a lineup of robotic products including a Google Home and Amazon Echo-like device called Hub Robot.
Hub Robot from LG is a smart home product that can connect smart appliances in the home. Using voice recognition technology from Amazon Alexa, you can use your voice to complete everyday household tasks like turning on the air conditioner, showing you contents inside your refrigerator, recipes, play music, set alarms, create memos, and a whole lot more.
That’s not all, the Hub Robot has a display on the front that can show you a wide range of emotions when interacting with different people around the house, while the camera allows it to recognise people so it can provide personalised greeting for different family members. LG’s Hub Robot works best when placed in common areas in the house where family members tend to gather. For other rooms, LG also introduced mini robots, an extension of the Hub Robot that can perform many of the same functions.
On top of that, LG also introduced several industrial robots like an Airport Guide Robot, Airport Cleaning Robot and Lawn Mowing Robot. The Airport Guide Robot is an intelligent information assistant for travellers that can communicate in four languages namely English, Chinese, Japanese and of course, Korean. To be implemented in Seoul’s Icheon International Airport “soon”, the robot can scan passenger’s ticket, provide detailed information about a flight’s boarding time and gate location, and even the weather of a traveller’s destination city.
