Sony is planning to make a push into mobile games for smartphones with ForwardWorks Corporation. The new company will be using intellectual property owned by PlayStation to make mobile games for Japan and Asia. This was an oddly specific region to be mentioned in the press release, and it sounds like casual gamers outside the continent will be left out.
Little else is known about ForwardWorks thus far. The company is only set to begin operations on 1 April, which indicates that there will be more information about its plans around that time.
Sony isn’t the only console maker looking to get into the mobile game market. Nintendo had long abandoned its stance against smartphone games and has only recently published its first mobile title. Similarly, Microsoft has been trying to tie the Xbox into the rest of the Windows eco-systems since Windows 10.
