Convincing Images of Huawei P9 Appear; Sports Dual-Camera Setup & Kirin 950 SoC

Just recently, more leaked images of the Huawei P9 have appeared, and they look very legitimate. Judging by these leaked information, it seems like the P9 will sport a dual-camera setup and a very capable processor, the Kirin 950 chipset.

Huawei’s very own chipset, the Kirin 950, made its debut on the Huawei Mate 8, which is slated to be launched here in Malaysia next week on the 8th of March. If the Huawei P9 will indeed be powered by this processor, we can expect it to be much faster than its predecessor, the Huawei P8. The Kirin 950 is, after all, Huawei’s top-of-the-line chipset now.

Other than that, there is also the dual-camera setup found on the back of the P9. Huawei – or more specifically, its sub-brand, honor – first came out with a similar camera setup with the honor 6 Plus. According to VentureBeat’s source, the P9’s two 12MP rear cameras will be even more feature-packed, not to mention the fact that the lens is said to be made by legendary German camera manufacturer Leica. This is entirely possible: Leica and Huawei are now in a partnership to “reinvent smartphone photography.”

Other supposed specifications of the Huawei P9 include 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a generous 3,900mAh battery (which is impressive for a smartphone this thin), and of course, Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Based on the leaked images, the P9 should be equipped with a rear fingerprint sensor as well.

While these images did not come directly from Huawei, they did originate from Evan Blass (also known as @evleaks), who has proved to be very accurate with early information in the past. Hopefully, it won’t be long until Huawei officially announces the new Huawei P9 – it could come in as many as four different variants.
