We never thought this day would come, but at Sony’s recent PlayStation Experience event, Naughty Dog has announced its next big project: The Last of Us Part II. Considering how successful the first game was, we imagine many people is looking forward to the second instalment.
The Last of Us Part II takes place several years after the events of the first game. Ellie, now 19, will be the primary character of the second game. Judging by the reveal trailer below, it appears Ellie has some business to take care of. Fret not: Joel is set to appear in the game as well.
It was also revealed that The Last of Us Part II will be running on Naughty Dog’s updated engine, which is likely to be the very same engine used for Uncharted 4. Naturally, the main storyline of the sequel has not been revealed yet, but Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann – the director of the upcoming game – assured fans it will be a story worth telling.
Unfortunately, The Last of Us Part II is said to be in early development; no release date has been announced yet. While we wait for more information to be released, now’s a good time fire up The Last of Us again to relive the game.
