Samsung has recently introduced two new devices under the company’s affordable Galaxy J series in Malaysia: the J2 Prime and J1 Mini Prime. For those who are looking for a spare smartphone or one that won’t break the bank, these two devices fit the bill.

Considering the fact that these two smartphones are some of the most affordable offerings in the Galaxy J series – which is already a budget-friendly lineup – their specifications are not exactly top-notch. The Galaxy J1 Mini Prime, for one, only has a 4.0-inch WVGA display, a Shark LS 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, as well as a 1,500mAh battery; it also features 5MP rear and VGA front-facing cameras.

The Galaxy J2 Prime, on the other hand, is slightly beefier. It’s equipped with a 5-inch qHD display, a 1.4GHz Cortex-A53 quad-core processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing shooter, as well as a 2,600mAh battery. Just like the J1 Mini Prime, the J2 Prime also runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

As for retail prices, the Samsung Galaxy J1 Mini Prime retails at only RM299, while the Galaxy J2 Prime goes for RM499. Both smartphones are now available for purchase in Malaysia.
