Professional League of Legends team SK Telecom T1 (SKT) has won the LoL World Championship for the third time. SKT has won three out of the last four Worlds tournament, making the most recent victory a historic moment for the team.
SKT met Samsung Galaxy (SSG) in the grand finals of this year’s World Championship after defeating tournament favourites, ROX Tigers. SKT took early control of the first game but were foiled by SSG’s Crown. Despite this, SSG failed to stage a comeback and were handed a similar loss in game two.
SSG still managed to pull the score level in the best-of-five match in game three and four leaving the finals tied at 2 – 2 going into the final game. With everything to play for, SKT showed no mercy to their outmatched opponents and dominated every lane. Ultimately, SKT showed discipline in their play style and that was what won them the championship.
The World Championship finals were held at the Staples Center in New York on the 30th of October 2016.
