The “Halfbeak” May Be HTC’s First Android Wear Device

HTC may not be making much of an impact in the smartphone market right now – though the HTC 10 is quite an interesting flagship device – the company may be entering the smartwatch business very, very soon. This seems inevitable with the leak of the HTC “Halfbeak,” which seems to be a smartwatch made in collaboration with Under Armour.

Looking at leaked images of the smartwatch, both HTC and Under Armour’s brandings are present on the underside of the Halfbeak; it appears to be equipped with a heart rate monitor as well, which is really a feature someone would expect from a smartwatch.

Other than that, the Halfbeak is also a circular smartwatch; it’s said to be packing a 360 x 360 resolution display, which is a pretty sharp panel for a smartwatch. However, it’s worth noting that other Android Wear devices such as the Huawei Watch has a higher resolution 400 x 400 AMOLED display.

The leaked images also show that the Halfbeak has two buttons and what appears to be a rubber watch band. Chances are, the Halfbeak is a fitness-oriented Android Wear device, judging by the watch band material and the overall design of the smartwatch.

While these are merely leaked images, the HTC Halfbeak does look like an interesting smartwatch. Unfortunately, it still remains to be seen just when – or if – it will be officially announced.
