Apple Warns That its Jet Black iPhone 7 will Scratch Easily

One of the most exciting things about Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus announcements earlier today would definitely have to be the brand new glossy Jet Black colour option. It looks good, it’s shiny, it’s bold, but before you make your mind up to get that colour option because it reminds you of the old iPhone 3G, Apple warns that it scratches easily.

Like almost anything, the Jet Black iPhone 7 will get scratched as you use it. However, because it is high-gloss, the scratches will look more obvious, and will cause the phone to lose its shine. If you still insist on getting it, Apple recommends that you use a case.

“The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodisation and polished process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodised Apple products; however, its shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.”

The comment is listed on the specifications page for the iPhone 7. The Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are available exclusively available in 128GB and 256GB models. Of course, if you are still concerned about scratches, you can also opt for the new black colour option that replaces the previous Space Grey variant though, it’s obvious that Jet Black is the star of the show that is featured on the official iPhone 7 product page – even the entire page has gone black to show its elegance.
