Not too long ago, TP-Link rebranded itself to reflect its new focus on smart products. Today, we’re seeing the fruits of its labour; enter the new Neffos X series of smartphones. These two devices, the Neffos X1 and X1 Max, are TP-Link’s most premium smartphones yet, and they carry quite competitive price tags.

Naturally, these Neffos X series smartphones have premium, metal constructions. They also have dual-curved back panels, which should make them comfortable to hold. Powering the Neffos X1 and X1 Max, on the other hand, is MediaTek’s Helio P10 processor.

What differentiates the Neffos X1 from the X1 Max are three things: display, RAM and storage capacity, as well as battery size. The X1 has a 5-inch 720p display, while the X1 Max has a 5.5-inch 1080p display. As for battery capacity, the bigger X1 Max is packed with a 3,000mAh battery; the X1 has a smaller 2,250mAh battery instead. Other than that, the X1 is packed with up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the X1 Max has up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Other specifications shared by the Neffos X1 and X1 Max are a microSD card slot (it supports cards up to 128GB), a 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, a 5MP front-facing shooter, a rear fingerprint sensor, as well as Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

Perhaps the most compelling aspect of TP-Link’s new Neffos X1 and X1 Max smartphones are their retail prices. The Neffos X1 retails from only 199 euro (about RM910), while the bigger X1 Max goes from 249 euro (around RM1,135). According to TP-Link, these devices will be available in stores within Q4 2016, including Malaysia.
